Anyone who knows me will know one of my passions is climate change and how to mitigate our impact on the environment. It often induces the involuntary ‘eye-roll’ from my children but they understand why I am so passionate about it.
21st June was the Summer Solstice and also #ShowYourStripes day—a time to spread awareness about climate change and rising global temperatures with the iconic Warming Stripes.
Climate scientist Ed Hawkins created the Warming Stripes to visualize the long-term rise in global temperatures caused by human activities like burning fossil fuels.
The stripes use annual temperatures to create a simple “striped” visual. Red stripes are years above a long-term average temperature and blue stripes are years below. It’s a scary image when you stop to think about it.
We have many energy saving solutions in place at home and at Brash we are always working to reduce our Carbon Footprint through the use of carbon neutral technology.
We’re committed to helping our customers reduce the carbon impact of their IT systems within their business and we aim to recommend the most energy efficient hardware, hosting and cloud software systems.
I’m proud that all our websites are carbon neutral – we work with ANS to ensure that all carbon emissions associated with the hosting of websites have been neutralised. The emissions produced by our servers are offset by renewable energy projects that reduce the use of fossil fuels. These projects are verified by The Voluntary Carbon Standard.
I wore my stripes to work – if you want to find out more about how you can reduce the environmental impact of your IT systems drop us a chat through our widget …it might even encourage you to ShowYourStripes next year. 😉 Richard.
