At Brash we are driven by the mission to create technology solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives. Today, we are thrilled to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Best Technology Provider category at The Incentive Awards! This prestigious recognition is a testament to our commitment to innovation, user-centric design, and the powerful impact our solutions have on small businesses and their teams.
Our most recent achievement? A bespoke Staff Wellbeing app developed for Abbots Care, a leading care provider based in Hertfordshire, known for their award-winning services and outstanding CQC rating. Here’s a closer look at the highlights that have earned us this nomination.
Supporting Those Who Care for Others
When Abbots Care approached us during the COVID-19 pandemic, their frontline medical care providers were facing increased levels of fear, anxiety, isolation, and vulnerability. These challenges were compounded by the nature of their work, which could lead to high staff turnover and an isolated working environment.
We knew we had to create a solution that would go beyond the usual scope of a workplace app.
The result? A Wellbeing app designed to offer support, facilitate communication, provide feedback, and recognise the vital contributions of these frontline heroes.
The app’s impact was immediate and profound, with over 90% of Abbots Care’s 500 staff members downloading it shortly after launch. It has since become a cornerstone of their strategy to boost morale, mental health, and staff engagement.
Designing for Inclusivity and Ease of Use
A key aspect of our app’s success is its design. From the outset, we embraced a mobile-first approach, adhering closely to the human interface guidelines for iOS and Android. The app is cross-platform and boasts features like polls, good news updates, and rewards for high-performing staff, all tailored to keep users engaged and motivated.
However, what truly sets our app apart is its accessibility. We considered the needs of technophobic users and the diverse linguistic backgrounds of Abbots Care’s workforce. For many, English is a second language, and traditional app designs can feel overwhelming. That’s why we opted for a simple layout with large, image-led buttons, ensuring that every user—regardless of their tech-savviness or language proficiency—can navigate the app with ease.
Agility in Development and Continuous Improvement
Our development process was guided by lean and agile principles, starting with a prototype and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to test the user base and collect data. We didn’t just build an app; we built a dynamic tool that evolves with its users. By incorporating feedback and monitoring engagement metrics, we continuously optimise and scale the app, ensuring it stays relevant and effective.
We are proud that our partnership with Abbots Care is ongoing, and we are excited to roll out new features designed to further enhance the user experience. Recent updates include a poll feature to drive engagement among care workers, and in the pipeline are push notifications, an in-house FAQ, and daily tips aimed at promoting best practices and continuous training.
Recognition and Looking Ahead
Being shortlisted for The Incentive Awards is a significant milestone for us, and it reflects our dedication to delivering technology solutions that are not just functional, but transformative. We are honoured to be recognised alongside other outstanding technology providers and are grateful to Abbots Care for entrusting us with their vision to support their incredible team.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what technology can do for small businesses and their employees. Whether it’s enhancing communication, boosting engagement, or providing the tools for better mental health and wellbeing, we are here to help organisations thrive.
Thank you to all our clients, partners, and the amazing team at Abbots Care for your support. We are excited for what’s next and look forward to continuing this journey of innovation and impact together.
